A Mother's Pain
I cannot hold your hand
Or kiss skinned knee better
I can only watch as you stumble,
fall, totter forward -- Two steps--three
To fall again and start over
It was easier then
I could hold you in Encircling arms and
smothering kisses
Knowing you were safe therein
But, I let you go
And now I watch,
one step, two--now three
Taking comfort in your direction
The Search
I looked for him
My divine light, my Savior,
I searched tall palace, forest, fallow field,
king and beggar, elder, hermit, thief
I found him not
I swept the palace tall
planted tree, tilled field
counseled kings, fed beggar, befriended hermit
tended elder, forgave thief
And He found me
